Acupuncture Oxfordshire

At the Bampton Clinic we offer acupuncture in Oxfordshire. Acupuncture is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a healthcare system that has been practised for thousands of years in China and the Far East. It has been developed, tested, researched and refined over centuries to give us a complex and detailed understanding of the body’s energetic balance.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) writes in its Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014-2023 that ‘[acupuncture] is now used worldwide. According to a report supplied by 129 countries, 80% of them now recognise the use of acupuncture’.

Today traditional acupuncture is practised all around the world and clinical trials are now confirming its efficacy. More and more people are able to benefit as traditional acupuncture becomes a recognised option within standard healthcare.

Inserting acupuncture needles in specific points on the body is believed to harmonise and improve the flow of Qi (vital force, energy). This understanding can be used both locally, if the Qi of a specific limb is affected, or systemically, if the symptoms are an expression of a deeper underlying disorder. Qi in balance allows all physiological functions to return to normal.
